Release Notes: One of three releases from Vigotone capturing outtakes and alternates from the then-recent Rolling Stones release, "Voodoo Lounge." "Boxed-sets worth" of content, indeed.

It is possible that whomever supplied this material to Vigotone introduced a lossy (Minidisc?) generation somewhere in there. Some of the spectrals are a bit suspicious. Rest assured that this is how it was on the original discs and that no extra tampering has taken place.

Also note that Disc 2 failed AccurateRip, almost across the board. These results were verified by ripping on another machine. It is likely that the single set of results already in the AR database was wrong or from a different pressing.

A bootleg for all the collector beyond us who always wanted to have as much as possible obscure and rare recordings on one CD. "Archangel Rides Again" is the "small brother" of the rare and expensive "Archangel" double vinyl bootleg. Some new songs can be found on the CD but also a lot has been left out to make a single CD. Just compare with the help of the text file. The booklet of the CD is also really cool. Lots of rare pictures and also a nice text. Released somewhere in 1992 or 1993, supposed to be made in Italy.

This is the demo tape that Green Day used to shop around for record labels for the album Dookie. It has demo versions of both tracks that were used on the album and tracks that were not. This is a very interesting piece of Green Day history. If you listen to the vocals, it sounds much more like it should be recordings for Kerplunk or 39/Smooth.

::: Warts: Some mike noises (fixed or lowered). Dullspots & dropouts fixed but surely missed a few (weren't many, tape was in EXC shape). Tapeflip splice in "Dharma" (on master).

::: Tull played 1970-04-30to05-03 at this venue with Fairport Convention & Salt 'N Pepper. Clouds were advertised but didn't perform(?). On 1970-05-03 Boz Scaggs replaced Fairport. Lights by Little Princess.

::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: From a 1st gen transfer done in 1974 or 1975. My source gave me a number of his cassettes after transfering them to reels. Either this tape held up better than the master, or the master was not properly azimuth adjusted for playback (or the playback deck had some issues), as this transfer sounds significantly better, clearer & has more high end intact than the KRW_CO "MASTER>DAT" version. This copy has the opening audience noise start up slightly earlier at the beginning of the show as well as a couple more seconds at the very end. The original master had a tapeflip near the start of "Dharma". The "MASTER>DAT" version spliced out about 25 seconds of the start of side B & someone did a virtually unnoticeable (nice!) splice to bring the song together. That extra deleted (blistering guitar) material is left here in this version - but you will hear the rather abrupt tapeflip splice. Completists will be happy, the general listeners more startled... But, in general, everyone should be pleased with the overall sonic upgrade.

This is a very rare Santana concert from Montreux in Switzerland in 1971. I've only seen this video available once, and I grabbed it when I did. There was not much information on it but it has some very good video of three of Journey's original members in it. Neal Schon, who was 17 years old then, Gregg Rolie, and even Journey's manager, Herbie Herbet (through the Steve Perry years and before that) are in this video a lot. Personally, I like Neal Schon's guitar playing the best.

When I got the video it had no chapters. I believe I created chapters on this DVD at the beginning of songs correctly. But even that I cannot say with 100% certainty. So if one long song, with a stopping point in the middle, picks up again sounding differently; it might be broken into two DVD chapters. But it flows flawlessly.

This is a great video of the show too. It starts out with some tape tracking issues but cleans up very quickly. And the video even gets better very soon too. It almost looks as if there were two video sources but I doubt it. I wish I knew the lineage of this DVD, but unfortunately, I never got that. I'm not sure where it came from or where to find it again (other than here and on my hard drives). The sound is great and the video is great. It's not excellent or superb, but it is definitely very good and very watchable. I'm surprised at how good it is.

One other thing I find interesting in this show is how often members of the band, besides Carlos Santana, are shown. In other "Schon & Rolie era" Santana videos I have, they barely show other band members.

One of the best shows by The Grape, both in terms of sound and content. I got the master clone CDs “second hand”, but I’m still quite sure this one is raw. It had some problems, though, namely some digi-clicks near the beginning of the Freak Out medley. I only ran click removal on the affected sections, so I hope I managed to find them all. I only found the first tape flip, between RDNZL and Montana. There should be a tape change somewhere in the Freak Out medley – someone will probably point it out for me soon. We wouldn’t have a fill for it anyway, since no one showed up with a different source.

Those who wish to burn it on CD, split discs between track 7 and 8.

The right microphone became unplugged during the concert just before Us And Them. I used the left channel for both so, technically that song is 2 channel mono. I checked and made a slight speed correction and put Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 6 - 9) back together. I have included the files pf1977-05-01 (T-700Rev.A) 44.1kHz-edits removed.flac and pf1977-05-01 (T-700Rev.A) 48kHz-edits removed.flac which contains all the sound from the edits made when sound was deleted or patched. If you burn as audio I wouldn't recomend including this file on the audio disc.

I have included both 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz sampled versions in this release. The 44.1 kHz is for burning as audio discs. The artwork has been revised for this version and I've included scans of the original tapes.

I did the original recording, editing, mastering (tweaking), analog to digital transfer and artwork for this version of this show. Don't add, change or remove any of these files. Please keep the text, md5 and artwork files unaltered, together with the FLAC's.

Don't rename directories or file names if you share this. My concern is that when people rename them they drop information like date, venue, location, T number. This information is useful to others when searching for or deciding which version of a show they want or already have.

The setlists for these early 1977 concerts were among the most varied of Lou's career. Although the shows were ostensibly to promote "Rock And Roll Heart", they didn't usually feature many songs from that LP. In reality, Lou was trying out the ideas and songs which would eventually form "Street Hassle". Of the songs on this (incomplete?) recording from Groningen, "Better Get Up And Dance" and "Affirmative Action (PO #99)" would subsequently be abandoned completely. "Such A Pretty Face" would eventually mutate into "Wait": it would later appear on the "Street Hassle" LP along with "Shooting Star", "Real Good Time Together" and "Gimmie Some Good Times". Lou would never be so unpredictable again!
